One Year of Travelling Like A Local -Wimdu announce strong year one figures with over 50,000 properties listed on the website worldwide and expected revenue of €100 million for 2012

LONDON, UK – MARCH 22 2012- Wimdu the social accommodation travel website today announces its year one results, becoming the biggest social accommodation search website coming from Europe.

As holiday makers around the world look for authentic, value for money travel experiences, Wimdu is providing a real alternative to package holidays and hotels. The upward curve of the Berlin-based start-up reflects the growing popularity of social travel and the impact it is having on the travel industry.

In its first year of business Wimdu has attracted over 50,000 properties in over 100 countries. With the Olympics round the corner, Wimdu has seen some of its strongest growth in London.  Over the last four weeks the number of host properties has doubled from 1,000 to 2,200, providing Londoners with an average additional income of £4,200* during the Olympic Games.

Worldwide, Wimdu has quadrupled revenue in the past three months to over €5,000,000 per month. Highlighting just how fast the social travel economy is growing round the world. Growth across Europe has been helped by Wimdu’s unique insurance offering with up to €500,000 for hosts at no extra charge.
